From the introduction:
"In this chapter I examine geometric and spatial reasoning in a broad context. I describe and analyze recent research on the nature and development of students' thinking about geometry, geometric measurement, and aspects of spatial reasoning that are related to geometry. I concentrate on empirical and theoretical research, not curriculum and technological tool design. I focus on key ideas rather than comprehensively surveying the field. Where possible, I discuss the cognitive roots of geometric reasoning."
